meet the team.

Evan McAvoy, LCSW

Throughout my career, I've worked in settings ranging from inpatient psychiatric units and emergency rooms to group homes, supportive-housing and houseless shelters. These experiences have shown me that while our circumstances may differ, many of the challenges we face - grief, stress, uncertainty, relationship struggles, and the search for meaning - are deeply human and widely shared. They have shaped my belief that healing begins with compassion, connection, and truly feeling understood.

Over the years, I've worked with people from many walks of life and with a wide range of concerns. My clients may struggle with stress, anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma. They may struggle with relationship issues, financial issues, gambling issues or substance use issues. Some come to therapy with a clear goal in mind, while others simply know that something isn't working and want support finding a way forward. Wherever you're starting from, I strive to meet you with curiosity, respect, and compassion.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, reflective, and grounded in genuine curiosity about each person's unique experiences, strengths and hopes for the future. For some of my clients I am a clinician, helping them to reflect on their current situations and work on new ways to cope and overcome the obstacles they face. For some of my clients I am an advocate, helping them to find resources and navigate systems that connect them to financial support, medical support, affordable housing, legal support or substance use treatment. Most often I am a combination of both roles.
