we’re so glad you asked.
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes. Online scheduling is currently available for new clients in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Not in one of those states? We are contracting with excellent, high-quality therapists that embody what we call good human work. Sometimes, it takes us just a minute to get them on the site for you, so please reach out to us at support@goodhumanwork.com, and we will get you connected to an excellent therapist in your area. All of our therapists offer online therapy and an increasing number of our therapists are offering in-person therapy.
How long/how often will we meet?
Counseling sessions (both online and in-person) are most commonly based on the 50-minute therapy hour. Typically, sessions are scheduled once per week to start. We often find that a week between sessions is the ideal amount of time to integrate change into daily life without losing momentum in therapy. However, frequency of sessions can be increased or decreased based on client need, preference, budget, or availability. The overall length of treatment can vary significantly based on the client and the goals of treatment. It is our priority to help clients achieve their goals as quickly as possible, while still striving to create deep and lasting change.
Is counseling confidential/secure?
It is our highest priority to maintain confidentiality and security for our clients. We strictly adhere to state regulations for confidentiality and we use only HIPAA-compatible platforms for online counseling. For more information, please email us for a copy of our informed consent or click to see our complete privacy policy.
What payment options are available?
We accept credit, debit, and HSA card payments for services. Session fees are securely processed through our online scheduling/payment system using your credit card. Individual, couple, and family session fees are $175.
Do you offer sliding fee scale or subscription services?
We do not offer sliding fees or subscriptions for our services at Good Human Work. All of our therapists provide a limited number of “pro bono” (significantly discounted) therapy sessions for clients in difficult financial circumstances. We strongly believe in the value of making therapy accessible, and we are happy to assist you in finding a therapist and practice that is right for you and your needs. If you think that may be us but are not sure yet, reach out to support@goodhumanwork.com.
Do you take insurance?
We are covered as out-of-network providers by many insurance plans, but we do not bill directly to insurance. Session fees are paid by the client at the time of service, and we can provide a receipt (i.e. superbill) that clients may use to seek reimbursement for services.
We encourage you to weigh the benefits of not using insurance (e.g. you have increased privacy and confidentiality, you do not require a mental health diagnosis to engage in services; you have greater freedom to choose the therapist that is the best fit for you; you and your therapist are able to make the decisions about the length, format and nature of your treatment) and the benefits of using insurance (e.g. you might pay less out of pocket for therapy, after deductibles have been met).
If you are considering using your insurance, we encourage you to contact your insurance company to inquire about coverage (e.g. do I have mental health coverage; what is my deductible; how many sessions are covered; what coverage is available for in-network and out-of-network providers, do I have an HSA, FSA or HRA, etc). If a client wishes to seek reimbursement for services, it is the client’s responsibility to request a superbill from us, and it is also the client’s responsibility to submit the superbill to their health insurance provider.
How are you licensed?
Per state regulations, therapists must be licensed in the states where their clients are located. Please refer to each therapist’s bio page to confirm their active state licensures.
Is Good Human Work the right fit for me?
We believe that therapy is for everyone and that it takes bravery and strength to choose to make a change. We know we’ve done our job when we see that our clients are happier, calmer, and have achieved greater connection and balance in their lives. We can’t tell you if we’re the right fit for you, because that’s really up to you to decide. But we’re here for you and we’ll be happy to help you find the right therapist, even if you decide that we’re not the right fit for you. It can be tricky to decide who the right fit may be for you, so we wrote this article to help clients consider their options.
To encourage the idea of finding a therapist that’s a good fit for you, we offer Brief Consults with any of our therapists who may be a good fit for you. You can meet with one or several therapists in order to determine who you’re comfortable seeing for therapy.
