Laura Gibbons, LMFT

she/her/hers

None of us are immune to challenges, unexpected change, feeling lost, or dissatisfied with the way things are going personally, professionally, or relationally.

Sometimes we may not feel like we are functioning at our best in our personal or professional life. This may be a new feeling or maybe a feeling one has been experiencing longer than what is comfortable.

Life can be complicated and we are complex human beings. There are many parts that make up one’s whole self and sometimes we may not be attending to areas that are important to our overall well-being and satisfaction in life. This can get in the way of us feeling positive, healthy, productive, connected, and fulfilled.

My approach:

Making the decision to enter counseling is an intentional first step toward change. This is your time and space to focus on your needs and what is important to you. We will work together to identify your goals and create strategies to move toward practical and meaningful change. Counseling does not have to be a long-term commitment and I have worked with many clients on ways to have the biggest impact in the shortest amount of time. When there are issues that may require more attention, we will discuss the best approach to successfully meet your goals.

My background:

After receiving a BA from Indiana University, I worked in various positions across non-profit, for-profit, governmental, and legal environments. My varied background and experience, coupled with training in marriage and family therapy, led me to working in the employee assistance program (EAP) field.

I have worked closely with organizational leaders and employee groups across various industries to provide solution-focused counseling; facilitate leadership, professional development, and wellness training; and respond to critical events that impact a workgroup. Holding management positions has also given me the insight to help others who are in supervisory and management roles.

Working in EAP has allowed me to work with a variety of clients - individually and in a relational setting – to help individuals, couples, and families meet their goals by tapping into their resources and strengths, identifying appropriate roles, developing new skills, adopting a growth mindset, building resilience, and communicating more effectively to express needs and feel more connected.

I am excited about the opportunity to work with you.
