I believe individuals come to therapy when they need to feel heard, to better understand who they are and what they want, and are ready for a change.
Therapy provides a safe and non judgmental structure where you can explore, seek understanding, practice new ways of being, and acknowledge both darkness and light in life.
My approach:
My approach is validating and supporting, which provides the safe space to go deep and explore. I see individuals as a part of many interlocking circles of families, work, and communities. I believe that all our lives have moments of despair and moments of joy. We can seek to reject despair and life’s difficulties or begin to integrate them into our lives and use them as information and inspiration.
My background:
My counseling specialty areas are coping with grief, loss, and change, professional burnout/compassion fatigue, secondary trauma, anxiety, relationships affected by work stress and difficulties, and finding, changing or leaving careers. I have supported healthcare, religious and other professionals as they navigate through difficult times in life and work. I use many tools in therapy, to include mindfulness, strength-based counseling, solution-focused therapy, psychoeducation and neuroeducation as it relates to mental well-being. I hold a license in marriage and family therapy (LMFT) and am a certified grief counseling specialist. As an avid educator, I have taught courses as an adjunct instructor at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota and currently develop and teach seminars and retreats. I supervise new therapists as an LMFT MN Board Approved Supervisor. Please contact me to begin some focused work together. I look forward to meeting you and will be honored to be a part of new growth and change.
