At our core, I believe that we all want to feel as if our short time on this planet matters – that our lives are full of purpose, meaning, and contribution.

Sometimes, though, these ideals can seem out of reach. We can feel held-back when external circumstances overwhelm or discourage us. We can feel stuck when past events keep us immobilized. Or we can feel limited when our current moods or beliefs about what is possible stand in the way of our best selves. Fortunately, therapy offers hope. Therapy is about gaining insights, skills, and perspectives to know who we are and what we stand for. As we begin to make empowered choices about how we want to show up in our lives, and for those who matter the most to us, we begin to heal. And we grow.

My approach:

I am so glad that you are here! Therapy is, first and foremost, a trusting relationship – so I will strive to help you feel heard, understood, respected, and valued. From this foundation, we will work collaboratively to explore your concerns and help you start building the life that you want. This process will involve working to understand what brought you to therapy, alongside learning new skills to help you handle difficult thoughts and feelings more effectively. We will focus on helping you clarify your values and goals, determine who/what really matters to you, what strengths you want to develop, and what you want to accomplish. As a team, we will work together toward actively facing your challenges, overcoming your problems, and setting your course for a better life.

My background:

I consider it one of the greatest privileges of my life to work with others as they heal from the past, overcome present challenges, and build healthier lives. I earned a Master of Science degree in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and have almost a decade of professional experience as a therapist counseling adults and groups across a variety of contexts – from higher education to outpatient community mental health and inpatient hospital settings. My theoretical orientation to clinical work centers on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while integrating aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina and a National Certified Counselor.

When you're ready, I’m here.
